Beta Cohort 3 Update
Quality of life
What is included in the new update to Cohort 3: Collectors of Glory?
The update we are releasing is introducing some important improvements to Phantom Galaxies. While new aspects of gameplay will not be added in this update, you will see the return of controller support to the Beta (a highly requested feature from our community - thank you!), the introduction of the Blowfish Digital Asset Vault, and integration with Hyperplay. We will touch on these in a bit more depth later in the FAQs.
Is this update Cohort 4?
No, this update is completely separate from Cohort 4 and is actually acting as a mid-Cohort update. We didnβt want to wait until the rest of Cohort 4 was ready to get these things out! Youβll hear more about the new content coming in Cohort 4 soon.
Will this update grant any new access to Cohort 3?
No. For the most part, Cohort 3 access is still gated by ownership of the following NFTs:
Zorranβs Favour
The Hopeful
Planet Genesis Mintpass or minted Planet
Avatar Mintpass
Starfighter Mintpass
Any amount of ASTRAFER
We also recently added the G-Bots community to the Beta, so anyone holding a G-Bot NFT in their wallet will also be able to access the latest Cohort alongside the others listed above. This, however, was not an inclusion in the mid-Cohort update specifically.
Access to more types of asset holders will be granted alongside our next major game update, Cohort 4.
What is the βNFT Collectionβ?
The NFT Collection is going to be your personal portfolio for all your digital collectibles. Accessible directly from the main menu, the portfolio will be displaying not only the Planets you've acquired, but also any other in-game digital assets. This portfolio will soon evolve into a repository for all your beloved NFTs, seamlessly allowing you to bind and unbind them to the game.
What does the Hyperplay integration mean?
Weβll now be giving players extra options to access the Beta, instead of only through copying and pasting your Beta Access Code. With our additional wallet integration powered by HyperPlay, connecting your in-game assets to your crypto wallet has never been easier. Seamlessly authenticate your progress and ownership directly from the game, eliminating the need to navigate to a separate website or juggle with tokens.
How can I access the Beta through HyperPlay?
1. Download and install the HyperPlay Launcher from hyperplay.xyz
2. Run the HyperPlay launcher and connect to your wallet with your Phantom Galaxies NFTs.
3. With the HyperPlay Launcher open, run the standard Phantom Galaxies Launcher or download the game directly from HyperPlay.
4. At the Wallet Connection Screen, you can choose to Connect with HyperPlay or to Enter Access Code (which functions the same as previously). Note: if you donβt see this screen, it's because you are still authenticated from your last launch and nothing additional is needed.
5. Select Connect with HyperPlay. A message will now pop up asking you to sign with your wallet.
Note: if you get an error message failing to login, make sure you have the HyperPlay launcher open and running before attempting to connect.
6. Over on your HyperPlay launcher, you should get a signature request. Switch to this window and sign the message.
7. You are now ready to play Phantom Galaxies as normal.
Note: you wonβt need to do this every launch, only when your authentication expires.
What does it mean to be bringing back Controller Support?
We keep a close ear out on our community, and one of the major points we were hearing over and over again was a desire for controller-based play to be supported in the Beta experience, not just keyboard and mouse. With this update, we will bring back controller support for Xbox! We understand that a comfortable and familiar gaming experience is crucial, and that's why we're thrilled that Xbox controllers can again be used to navigate the far reaches of the NCA. Whether you're soaring through space or engaging in epic battles, the choice is yours on how to control your destiny.
Note: PlayStation controllers will not be natively supported just yet but will function with the use of a 3rd party program such as DS4Windows.
In addition to adding controller support, some Keyboard buttons have been updated to keep functions consistent. Most noticeably:
SPACE >> ENTER for skipping cutscenes.
G >> F for launching from the Hangar.
As with all updates there may be issues so please report any problems encountered and feedback.
Mech Controls
Ship Controls
Note: rolling is not supported on controllers ([Q/E] on keyboard). If you are stuck in the tutorial or really want to roll, please use the keyboard keys as these will still function.
